Reps Pass Bill to Extend 2025 Capital Budget Implementation to September 30

The House of Representatives on Monday passed a bill to repeal and enact the 2025 Appropriation Act, to extend the implementation of the capital component of the Act from June 30 to Sept. 30.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this followed the presentation of an amendment bill by the Leader of the house, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere (APC-Edo), at an emergency plenary in Abuja.

In his lead debate, Ihonvbere urged members to support the passage of the bill to enable to government complete ongoing projects across the country.

NAN also reports that the house, after an accelerated consideration, unanimously voted and passed the bill for first, second and third readings.

In his ruling, Speaker of the House, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, adopted the amended bill as the working document of the house.

NAN reports that the bill, in concurrence with the Senate, will be sent to the president for his assent.(NAN)
