The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called for a conducive business environment for its operations in the country.

The President of MAN, Mr Francis Meshioye, made the call at the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Tuesday in Ede, Osun.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AGM, with delegates from Osun, Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti States, had as its theme “Human Capital and Local Content Development for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

Meshioye, represented by Mr Segun Ajayi-Kadir, MAN Director-General, said that critical areas such as enhanced competition, improved infrastructure development, reduction in production costs, and increased efficiency must be given adequate attention for manufacturers to thrive.

He said that manufacturers would continue to work with the Federal Government in achieving its goals of strengthening locally manufactured products, promoting conducive business hubs, and fostering growth in the manufacturing industrial sector.

According to him, the association will continue with the interest of driving economic growth and overall development of Nigeria and its citizens.

Meshioye also commended the governors of Osun, Oyo, Ondo, and Ekiti states for their notable achievements in the areas of infrastructural development for ease of transporting goods and services.

He urged states with epileptic power supply to engage with electricity companies for business activities to thrive.

Also, the MAN Chairman in Osun, Mr Sam Olawoye, said that the AGM would help to foster development and growth in some critical areas that demand urgent attention from stakeholders.

Olawoye commended the state governor for promoting an enabling environment for the manufacturing sector to thrive in the state.

He, however, said that the recent Federal Government suspension of the free-on-board levy on all imported goods was a welcome development.

In his address, Gov. Ademola Adeleke commended MAN for its roles in promoting economic growth in the country.

Adeleke, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Teslim Igbalaye, said that human capital and development remained his administration’s greatest priority.

The governor said his administration was committed to industrial growth and development, while commending MAN for choosing the state for its AGM. (NAN)
